GoMe likes using the letter "h" as an answer, doesn't it? <.<

You broke the code! :o
You realize they have to kill you now.

Here's another good news: they now have on-topic spam bots! Those will scan the forums for keywords before posting.

I just deleted a post on one of the forums I manage. It was added to a 3-year-old thread whose topics include TVs, satellite, projectors and computers. The bot added "Try this solution" with a picture and links to a satellite-to-PC system.

So at least we won't get completely off-topic spam posts anymore...

"How can I install <xyz>?" - "Here you can get gold for WoW!"

Word on the street is that some spambots are old fashioned...

I have used that before. It does a part of the job.
It filters a few bots out, but not humans who register bots.
The difficult part is to formulate questions that will keep those people from the sweatshops away, yet not turn legitimate users away.

Spam Pandemic

Postby Sheann » Tue Mar 09, 2010 7:23 pm

I think I got caught in your trap when I originally tried to register. After registering I got a message that the activation information was sent to my eMail account, but it never arrived. Finally, in frustration I registered another user ID and had the email sent to my wife's eMail account. That took a few days but worked. The original user ID I tried to use was Oldone and had the confirmation message sent to my hotmail account. Any ideas why I couldn't get the emai. No it didn't gp to my junk mail.

This is most likely hotmail's fault ansd not this server's... my arcor address also receives very few messages from the GoW (like notifications about new PMs), most of them are blocked either on their way to my mailbox or by arcor itself.
